NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Sooner Nation came out in swarms Saturday, as the University of Oklahoma hosted the Air Force.
A big topic of controversy the week prior to the game was whether fans would end the National Anthem with “home of the Sooners,” as tradition in Norman, or if they would recite the original lyrics as a sign of respect for those who serve.
OU head coach Bob Stoops urged fans to yell the original words in his Tuesday press conference. The university had several events planned to honor the cadets visiting Owen Field, including F-15’s flying overhead before kickoff, a special video tribute to the military and a unique halftime show featuring the “Pride of Oklahoma” and the Air Force marching bands together.
