OKLAHOMA CITY – A source close to the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz told Oklahoma Sports Tuesday that the team could be on the verge of moving to Seattle.
The source said the move is pending the completion of a deal between current Yard Dawgz owner Phil Miller and Force 10 Hoops, L.L.C., an ownership group based in Seattle.
Yard Dawgz general manager Christie Cook has denied the rumors and said the team is currently moving forward with season ticket sales at the Cox Convention Center. She added that an average of 6,000 fans attended each of Oklahoma City’s games last year. Force 10 Hoops has also denied the rumored acquisition.
The Yard Dawgz were founded in 2003 by former Oklahoma and Dallas Cowboys head coach Barry Switzer, Jeff Lund and Horn Chen, before that group sold the team to Miller.
