OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Las Vegas 51s bats caught fire Monday to hand Oklahoma City an 11-6 loss. The RedHawks closed out the four-game series with back-to-back losses to Las Vegas.
Oklahoma City (63-58) trailed by just two runs until the fifth inning when Las Vegas (59-64) put up four in the top half of the inning.
With two on base, Brad Emaus singled to left field to score Jason Lane from third to push the lead to 4-1. Two at-bats later, Brian Jeroloman walked with the bases loaded to bring Chris Lubanski home and push the lead to four runs. A pitching change brought in Doug Mathis, who allowed an two-run single to the first batter he faced to extend the led to 7-1.
The RedHawks scored five more runs – including solo home runs by Chris Davis and Max Ramirez – but three runs in the top of the ninth from the 51s would close the door on a comeback.
Las Vegas' Robert Ray (6-5) was credited with a win for the outing, after allowing three earned runs on six hits in his 6.5 innings of service. Doug Maths (4-5) gave up eight hits and six earned runs in his 4.2 inning outing.
Oklahoma City will begin a four-game series with Reno at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Bricktown Ballpark.
