FRISCO, Texas – It took a little help from the opposing pitcher, but the Drillers posted a 4-1 final in 10 innings Saturday against the Frisco RoughRiders.
Tulsa struck first in what was an uneventful contest for most of the night. Outfielder Scott Beerer led off the third inning with a single and eventually stole 2nd.
Outfielder Charles Blackmon doubled to center to score Beerer and put the Drillers up 1-0 after the third.
It took until the bottom of the seventh for the RoughRiders to respond. Outfielder Joey Butler homered to even the score.
After a solidly-pitched game, Frisco pitcher Tyler Tufts made the game’s key mistake, walking two straight batters – Anthony Jackson and Charles Blackmon - in the top of the 10th inning.
Third baseman Radames Nazario bunted, allowing Jackson to score and put Tulsa up 2-1.
Catcher Jordan Pacheco then doubled to left, bringing Blackmon and Bronson Sardinha across the plate.
Rex Brothers got the win for the Drillers and Stuart Pomeranz got the save. Tufts picked up the loss for the RoughRiders.
The Drillers will continue their series against Frisco on Sunday at 6 p.m.
