NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The University of Oklahoma hosted its annual Media Day on Friday.
While head coach Bob Stoops and Brent Venables answered questions in the press’ Red Room, many members of the Crimson and Cream wandered Owen Field, candidly opening up to the media.
Surrounded by microphones and cameras, the Sooners talked about how they used their summer months. Kicker Jimmy Stevens fished in his off-time, while Stephen Jones managed to squeeze in a trip home to Paris, Texas in between his summer workouts.
Offensive lineman Eric Mensik goofed around with teammates during their down time, but for the most part, the players were all business when talking about their upcoming season.
The players are ready to improve on the 8-5 record of last season. Thursday’s first practice of the 2010 season gave the coaching staff a brief look at how the team was looking after taking a few months off.

The Sooners host Utah State to open the 2010 season. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
