DALLAS -- The Oklahoma State Cowboys fielded questions Tuesday at the Big 12 Media Days. After coming off a 9-4 season last year, the Cowboys have faced some disappointing preseason projections.
The Sporting News ranks the Pokes at No. 64, while Rivals places Gundy’s boys at No. 56. Despite the bleak previews, the Cowboys are focusing on building from last season’s successes.
The team is fairly young, boasting a new quarterback in Brandon Weeden.
“I think this upcoming season provides us with an opportunity for us to develop some new faces, let some of these young guys get in the fold quick, gain a lot of experience,” Head coach Mike Gundy said.
Along with new faces on the field, the Cowboys also have new faces on the sidelines--particularly offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen. He’s been shifting the experience player’s mentality, while molding the rookies.
“In most cases that’s where you have the biggest change,” Gundy said. “They’re all new starters.”
