TULSA, Oklahoma -- Arkansas used the long ball to its advantage as the Travelers defeated Tulsa 9-2 Monday. The Travelers blasted three two-run homers as part of their 13 hit performance.
Nick Gorneault started a three-run fourth for Arkansas with his two-run homer to right field. Jeremy Moore followed that up with a two-run bomb of his own in the fifth to put the Travelers on top 6-1.
Andrew Romine capped the day with a two-run shot right.
Michael Mitchell scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second to give Tulsa a 1-0 lead. Bronson Sardinha crossed the plate in the sixth for the Drillers second run of the game.
Greg Reynolds (4-4) was tagged with the loss after giving up seven earned runs in six innings.
Tyler Chatwood (2-4) allowed two earned runs in seven innings and was credited with the win.
The Drillers start a four-game series with Northwest Arkansas at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
