TULSA, Oklahoma— The Tulsa Shock avoided tying the franchise’s longest losing streak of 13 games last week. The ladies defeated the San Antonio Silver Stars (7-13) 75-70 in their three-game road trip opener. However, the Shock dropped the next two on the road to fall to 4-17.
For the rest of July, the Shock will get to enjoy some home cooking as they play three of their four remaining games at the BOK Center, but that does not mean that it will be a comfortable homestand by any means.
All of the Shock’s opponents are currently in the playoff hunt. This week's schedule includes the top two teams in the West, the Seattle Storm and Phoenix Mercury. Tulsa has yet to win a game against either team this season. Also, the Storm is riding a current 10-game winning streak can tie the 1998 Houston Comets for the best 22 game start in WNBA history.
The Shock will also host the Silver Stars and a take trip to Atlanta to face the Dream.
Despite the struggles the team has faced this season, the Shock is only 4.5 games out of the last playoff spot. Making the postseason will be a difficult task because in August, the team only has three home games.
