SAN ANTONIO -- A fourth-quarter comeback lifted the Tulsa Shock to a 75-70 win over the San Antonio Silver Stars.
This was the Shock’s first win in more than a month. Its last win came on June 4th against the Minnesota Lynx.
The two squads played evenly for most of the first half, but the Silver Stars scored six unanswered points in the closing minutes of the half to take a 37-35 lead.
The Shock narrowed the lead to one point by the end of the third quarter and three minutes into the fourth quarter Tulsa strung together a quick seven points to take a 67-61 lead.
San Antonio answered with a quick four, but Tulsa converted on layups and free throws to close out the game and end the losing streak at 12 games.
Ivory Latta led the Shock with 15 points, while Tiffany Jackson added 12 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists in her third start for Tulsa. Chamique Holdsclaw led all scorers with 20 points and added eight rebounds and six steals to her line. Becky Hammon scored 18 and Sophia Young recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Tulsa will try to turn this into a winning streak Saturday against Phoenix.
