Drillers' Christian Friedrich Named Pitcher of the Week

Tulsa Drillers pitcher Christian Friedrich was named the Texas League's Pitcher of the Week.

The southpaw struck out a season high 12 batters while allowing just one run in a 7-inning win over Corpus Christi on July 8. He also turned 23 on the same day.

Three days later, Friedrich retired the only batter he faced in the annual XM Radio Futures Game at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

Friedrich was selected in the first round by the Colorado Rockies in the 2008 June Draft.
