MIDLAND, Texas – Four Tulsa Drillers took part in the Texas League All-Star Game Wednesday, but were largely ineffective in the North’s 5-4 loss.

Bruce Billings started on the mound for the North, but was only able to retire two batters. He gave up two runs on two hits and a walk. Teammate Keith Weiser pitched one inning later in the game and gave up one hit.

Drillers Wilin Rosario and Daniel Mayora both struggled at the plate, going a combined 1-for-5 with two strikeouts. Rosario extended the game in the ninth with the pair’s only hit, but an out two batters later clinched the loss.

The South used two big innings to earn the win, the first of which came in the bottom of the first against Billings. The South scored three more runs in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead at the time, and its pitchers held for the rest of the night.

Luis Martinez, who plays for the San Antonio Missions, was the only player to record more than one RBI. His two-run single in the fifth gave the South the lead.

The Drillers will resume their schedule at 7:05 p.m. Thursday in the opener of a three-game series against the Corpus Christi Hooks.
