OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma -- The Heartland Baseball Classic has been going on all week in Norman, bringing talent from all across the country, and Team Oklahoma was no exception. The roster featured five players committed to play for Oklahoma next season.

"It's really cool, five signees on one team, that's really neat," said Jonathan Gray.

Teammate Cale Coshow could agree more.

"It excites me for next year so much, I get to play with a whole bunch of my new teammates from next year," Coshow said.

Oklahoma landed a stellar recruiting class for next season, Coshow from Deer Creek; Casey Coyle from P.C. North; Gray from Chandler; Drew Dahlberg from Edmond Memorial; and Cayle Shambaugh from Jay.

L. Dale Mitchell Park was a host site for the Heartland Classic, so these future Sooners got plenty of experience at their future ballpark.

"You look around and you're like, 'Man this is where I'm going to be for the next four years' it's just going to be really great," Coyle said.

With the Sooners in Omaha for the College World Series, a group of future Sooners were glued to the TV all week.

"It's so exciting, I can't keep my eyes off of the TV," Coshow said.

Coyle’s already setting his sights on the Sooners’ next season.

"It's awesome just watching them on TV in Omaha, hopefully we can get back there next year," Coyle said.

Playing for the Sooners next year will be a dream come true for many of these athletes.

"It's just something I've always wanted to do," Coyle said. "I felt if I went there I could make the team a little bit better and with them being in Omaha now, that's just a bigger shot at a big goal for next year."

The Sooner tradition is something Coshow said he can literally relate to.

"My dad played football, mom was in the band, so I just have Boomer Sooner blood," Coshow said.

Coshow and the rest of his future OU teammates will also be practicing along with Weatherford’s Dillon Overton, who signed with Oklahoma.
