METAIRIE, Louisiana -- It was as apparent at the ballpark as it is in the box score. Gregorio Petit stole the show on the road in New Orleans.
The shortstop smacked two grand slams to push the Oklahoma City RedHawks past the Zephyrs, 10-5.
Oklahoma City (40-31) scored split its 10 runs between just two innings, doing damage in the fourth and eighth innings.
The offense would be needed as New Orleans (33-37) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings. RedHawks starter Guillermo Moscoso could only last those three innings, allowing four hits and four walks as the Zephyrs jumped on him early.
New Orleans starter Rick VandenHurk suddenly saw his night get difficult quickly. The 6-foot-5 righty walked the first three batters he faced in the top of the fourth.
After recording an out, he walked Hernan Iribarren to allow one run, and then Petit grabbed a hold of the second pitch he saw for a grand slam to left field.
The score remained even at 5-5 as Geoff Geary pitched four innings of scoreless relief for Oklahoma City.
A walk, single and error loaded the bases again for Petit, who took Brett Sinkbiel deep for his second grand slam of the night. Later in the inning, Brandon Boggs singled in Craig Gentry to cap the scoring.
Geary grabbed his fourth win of the season while Sinkbiel was stuck with the loss.
