OU's Beal, Lewis on Nagurski Watch List

NORMAN, Oklahoma – Sooners Jeremy Beal and Travis Lewis were both on the Bronko Nagurski Watch List announced Monday.

The Nagurski Award is given annually by the Football Writers Association of American to the nation’s best defensive player, and Nebraska’s Ndomukong Suh won the honor last season.

Beal led OU last year with 19 tackles for loss and 11 sacks and he currently ranks sixth in Sooner history with 20.5 sacks. Lewis led the Sooners in tackles in each of his first two seasons with the team and finished with 109 last season.

The Nagurski Watch List includes a total of 74 players, 10 of which play in the Big 12. The number of possible recipients will be trimmed throughout the season until the winner is chosen on Dec. 6.
