NASHVILLE, Tennessee – The Oklahoma City RedHawks could not muster enough late offense and dropped their second straight game 4-3 to the Nashville Sounds Saturday.
The RedHawks (38-30) trailed 4-1 going into the sixth inning, but cut the lead to one thanks to a two-run home run by Ryan Garko. But OKC recorded just one more hit for the rest of the night and could not complete the comeback.
Oklahoma City took an early lead on a sacrifice fly by Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the second inning, but the Sounds (37-31) tied things up in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Luis Cruz.
Nashville took the lead with a two-out rally in the fourth inning, starting with Mat Gamel’s RBI single. Brendan Katin followed with a two-run double to extend the lead to four, and that’s all the Sounds needed.
Oklahoma City starter Brandon McCarty lasted only two innings and gave up a run on three hits. Omar Beltre (0-5) was credited with the loss after relieving McCarthy and surrendering three runs on five hits in three innings.
Sam Narron (1-2) earned his first win of the season by holding OKC to two runs on three hits in 3.2 innings of work, and Brandon Kintzler closed things out for his first save of the year.
The RedHawks have lost two in a row after winning their previous five straight. The two teams will meet again at 2:05 p.m. Sunday.
