TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa Drillers pitcher Bruce Billings was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week after a record-setting scoreless innings streak.
The 24-year-old right-hander had his scoreless innings streak end at 38 straight – the longest such streak in the history of Tulsa professional baseball. The streak came just four innings shy of Tom Gorman’s record, set in 1951.
Billings pitched in only one game last week against the Springfield Cardinals, going 7.2 innings and allowing two hits, with his only earned run scoring after he departed the game.
He stands at 5-3 on the season with 43 strikeouts and a 2.73 ERA in 62.2 innings.
