SPRINGFIELD, Missouri -- Wilin Rosario and Chris Blackmon homered for Tulsa as the Drillers slugged their way to a 7-3 victory over Springfield.
Rosario hit a two-run homer in the top of the eighth to put Tulsa on top 6-3. He also scored a run in the second inning as part of the Drillers three-run second. Rosario finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Blackmon hit a solo shot in the top of the fifth to give the Drillers a 4-1 advantage.
Springfield responded with two run of their own in the bottom of the fifth. Daryl Jones scored the last run for the Cardinals on a Jason Van Kooten throwing error.
Tulsa committed three errors but was able to minimize the damage thanks to strong pitching. Keith Weiser (4-4) gained the win after allowing three runs (two earned) in six innings.
Weiser’s biggest mistake came in the third inning when he gave up a solo home run to Tyler Henley.
Elder Torres scored the seventh and final run for the Drillers in the top of the ninth on an Anthony Jackson double.
The two teams continue their series at 7:10 p.m. Friday.
