Tulsa, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Talons lost their first home game of the season 57-54 to the Orlando Predators.
The Talons started with a quick touchdown by Odie Armstrong. But, Orlando recovered with a 48-yard run on a sweep with 9:45 left in the first. After a Predators’ interception, the Talons recovered and scored a touchdown late in the first period to take a 14-7 lead.
The Predators gained the lead after scoring a touchdown midway through the second quarter. Donovan Morgan tied the game a few plays later, but Orlando recovered with another touchdown with 3:03 left. The Talons trailed by six points at halftime after a missed field goal by the Predators.
The Talons took a one-point lead in the opening stanza of the second half. Orlando answered back to regain the lead with 7:14 remaining in the third. Jeff Hughley scored a touchdown one minute later.
Orlando found the end zone in the beginning of the fourth quarter, but Tulsa answered right back to keep the battle for the lead going. Hughley scored a touchdown with 17 seconds left in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough for Tulsa to regain the lead. The Talons missed the extra point and Tulsa lost its 14-game home winning streak.
The Talons travel to Dallas to take on the Vigilantes at 7:00 p.m. Friday.
