RedHawks Use Late Charge to Defeat New Orleans

Oklahoma City scored seven runs in the final four innings to overcome New Orleans.

NEW ORLEANS -- The Oklahoma City RedHawks defeated New Orleans 8-5 in the second game of their series Saturday.

Chris Davis hit a three-run homer to cap a four-run seventh for Oklahoma City. Gregorio Pettit scored a couple plays earlier on a Brandon Boggs single to tie the game 3-3.

New Orleans started to come back in the bottom of the seventh. The Zephyrs scored two runs to cut the RedHawks lead to 6-5.

Oklahoma City answered back with single runs in the eighth and ninth inning.

Ryan Garko led off the sixth inning with a solo home run to left for the RedHawks second run of the game.

Donnie Murphy started the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot to center to put New Orleans on top 3-1.

Esteban German scored the game first run in the first inning to give Oklahoma City an early 1-0 advantage. But, it was a short-lived lead as the Zephyrs plated two in the bottom half of the inning.

Jailen Peguero (2-1) gained the victory for Oklahoma City after allowing two earned runs in an inning of work.

Brett Sinkbeil (0-1) gave up four earned runs in 1.2 innings and was tagged with the loss for New Orleans.

The two teams continue their series at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
