OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Sooners ended their Big 12 Tournament run with a 13-2 win over the Kansas State Wildcats Saturday in a run rule shortened game.
A six-run fourth inning put the game out of reach for OU in its bid to host an NCAA Regional matchup.
The Sooners’ first run of the game came in the first inning when Max White stole home on a double steal with Garrett Buechele.
In the bottom of the first, Daniel Dellasega singled to left field to bring Kent Urban home and tie the game for the Wildcats. In the next at-bat Mike Kindel hit a sacrifice fly to bring Nic Martini home and give Kansas State a 2-1 lead.
Buechele would hit his first of two home runs in the top of the third to tie the game 2-2, but OU took a commanding lead in the fourth.
With one out on the board, Danny Black bunted for a single to bring Cameron Seitzer home. In the next at-bat, Caleb Bushyhead hit an infield RBI single to bring Cody Reine home. Chris Ellison followed with a two-run double to bring Bushyhead and Black home and make it 7-2. Ellison would come in to score on a throwing error after stealing third. Buechele hit his second solo home run of the game two at-bats later to extend the Sooner lead to 9-2.
After scoring one run in the top of the eighth, Black homered to right center with two on to take a 13-2 lead.
Oklahoma will find out if they host a regional Monday and the NCAA Tournament will start June 4.
