Orlando Allen Cited for Pet Abandonment

The former OU basketball player was cited after animal welfare picked up his dachshund Rosco.

NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Former University of Oklahoma basketball player Orlando Allenwas cited by Norman police in April after his dachshund Bosco was picked up by the Norman Animal Welfare Center.

Allen was cited with pet abandonment, a problem Norman police are cracking down on.

"With school letting out, particularly the university here soon, a lot of occasions we have animals that are left behind, abandoned," Norman Police Captain Tom Easley told Gan Matthews.

The 6-10 center chose to leave the Sooners following last season to focus on his family.
