OKLAHOMA CITY -- The RedHawks were swept in their first doubleheader of the season 3-2 and 1-0 by the Fresno Grizzlies Monday.

In the first game, Fresno (25-12) scored their first run on a throwing error by Chad Tracy to bring Brock Bond home. Back-to-back RBI doubles by Steve Holm and Tyler Graham in the top of the fourth expanded the Grizzlies’ lead to 3-0.

Oklahoma City (21-16) had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs, Gregorio Petit walked to load the bases advancing Hernan Iribarren to third and Craig Gentry to second. In the next at-bat Chris Davis singled to center field bringing home Iribarren and Gentry home. Petit tried to score and tie the game, but was thrown out at home.

Kevin Pucetas (2-2) was credited with a win in the first game after pitching 6.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on eight hits and striking out five. Michael Kirkman (4-1) received his first loss of the season in his five innings of service for the RedHawks. He struck out seven and gave up two earned runs on five hits.

The nightcap was a pitchers’ duel, the only run coming on a wild pitch in the top of the second inning. Oklahoma City pitcher Omar Beltre (0-3) threw a wild pitching with runners on first and third to allow Bretty Pill to score and give Fresno a 1-0 lead.

Beltre’s outing ended after the second inning. He gave up two hits and struck out three in his two innings of service. The Grizzlies got a complete game from Madison Bumgarner (3-1), who gave up just three hits and struck out eight.

Oklahoma City takes will try to avoid the sweep at 7:05 Tuesday at Bricktown Ballpark.
