FAYETTVILLE, Arkansas -- The Tulsa Drillers could not muster any offense against Northwest Arkansas as they were shut out 4-0 in the series opener Monday.
The Drillers threatened in the top of the ninth but could not convert a prime opportunity. Tulsa had two on with no outs, but Blaine Hardy struck out the next three batters to end the game.
Mike Moustakas hit a two-run home run to right in the third inning to give the Naturals a 3-0 lead. Moustakas would add an insurance run in the eighth when he drove in Derrick Robinson on a single. Robinson scored the first run of the game in the second to give NW Arkansas a 1-0 advantage.
Ching Lung Lo (0-1) was tagged with the loss for Tulsa after giving up three runs (two earned) in four innings. Mario Santiago (2-3) earned the win after pitch seven scoreless innings.
The Drillers and Naturals have a quick turnaround hitting the field for game two at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
