OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City RedHawks dropped their first game of a four game series Saturday against the Fresno Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies (24-12) posted the first two, and only two, runs of the day in the top of the first inning.
Joe Borchard helped the Grizzlies get on the scoreboard with an RBI. His line drive to center field hit home teammate Brock Bond. Eugenio Velez followed in similar fashion just two batters later, hitting home Freddy Sanchez to take a 2-0 lead.
Unable to answer back, the RedHawks struggled to get a hit off Fresno’s pitcher, Matthew Yourkin. The lefty earned his second win of the season after throwing 5.0 innings, giving up only three hits and striking out two batters.
Oklahoma City (21-15) was shut out, as pitcher Geoff Geary (3-4) finished with the loss. He threw 6.0 innings, gave up nine hits and struck out three.
The two teams face each other again Sunday at 4:05 p.m. at the Bricktown Ballpark.
