STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- In its first game of a weekend series with Texas A&M, Oklahoma State was shut out 7-0 Friday.

Aggie (31-18-1, 10-11-1) pitcher Barret Loux (9-2) kept the Cowboys (28-21, 8-14) in check, pitching nine innings, only giving up four hits, striking out seven and only allowing two runners to reach scoring position. Oklahoma State pulled pitcher Mike Strong (4-3) in the top of the fifth. Strong gave up five earned runs on nine hits in his 4.1 innings of service.

Texas A&M’s bats got going early. Adam Smith and Kevin Gonzales hit back-to-back solo home runs in the first two at-bats of the second inning. Two at-bats later, Andrew Collazo scored on a wild pitch by Strong to take a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the fifth inning, Gonzalez added to his RBI total with a two-run single through the left side to bring Brodie Greene and Tyler Naquin home. In the next at-bat, Matt Juengel scored on a throwing error by the catcher after Gonzalez stole second.

The Aggies added one more in the top of the ninth when Kenny Jackson grounded into a double play that allowed Naquin to score.

The series will continue at 2 p.m. Saturday at Reynolds Stadium.
