HOUSTON -- The University of Tulsa softball team was eliminated from the 2010 Conference USA Softball Championship with a 5-1 loss to Memphis Thursday afternoon.
Vanessa Walle’s three-run home run in the top of the third was the highlight of a five-run inning for the Tigers. Heather Mott followed up with a solo shot of her own to left to cap the scoring. Lelani Bernadino scored the first run of the inning to tie the game 1-1.
The Golden Hurricane got on the board first in the bottom of the second. Cassidy Bowen scored Tulsa’s only run on a Lauren Menke single. TU had the bases loaded with one out but could not convert the opportunity.
Jackie Lawrence gets tagged with the loss for the Golden Hurricane after allowing five earned runs while going the distance. She finished the season with a 14-8 record.
Carly Hummel improved to 15-10 on the year after giving up one run in her complete game effort.
