TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa’s offense exploded in the Drillers 9-0 victory over Northwest Arkansas on Sunday. Tulsa banged out 11 hits and matched its highest run total of the season.
Jason Van Kooten got things going for the Drillers in the sixth inning with an RBI double to left. He would score the third Tulsa run of the inning a couple plays later. Anthony Jackson would knock in Dayton Buller for the second Drillers run after Van Kooten’s double. Jackson would cap a four-run sixth when he crossed the plate on a Jeff Kindel force out.
Kindel hit a two-run double in the fifth inning that gave the Drillers a 5-0 advatage. Buller crossed the plate a couple batters earlier on a bunt single.
Ryan Harvey's two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth broke the scoreless tie and put Tulsa up 2-0.
Bruce Billings earned the win for Tulsa after scattering four hits in seven scoreless innings. Aaron Crow gets tagged with the loss after allowing seven earned runs in five innings of work.
The two teams are back in action for game three at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
