SPRINGFIELD, Missouri -- The Drillers lost the final game of a four-game series with Springfield 7-0 after winning their three previous matchups.

Scott Gorgen (5-0) shut down Tulsa (9-14); giving up only three hits in his seven innings of service, while striking out eight.

Springfield (12-11) got on the board first in the bottom of the third, when Andrew Brown homered with Daryl Jones and James Rapoport on base to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. Two at-bats later, Pete Kozma singled to center to bring Curt Smith and Charles Cutler home and extend the lead to five runs.

The Drillers got one more inning from Bruce Billings (1-3) who gave up five earned runs on six hits in his four innings of service.

Pete Kozma added two more to the Cardinals’ lead in the bottom of the eighth inning with a two-run home run.

Tulsa threatened in the bottom of the ninth, but Kenny Perez grounded into a double play to end the game.

The Drillers return home to Tulsa to begin a three-game series against Arkansas Tuesday.
