Former Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is continuing his whirlwind start to the 2010 year.

After being selected No. 3 over in the NFL Draft and meeting two of his childhood heroes – John Randle and Warren Sapp – he met another player he looked up to, ex-Buccaneer and ex-Sooner Lee Roy Selmon.

"It was a great experience. He told me to keep doing what I've been doing," McCoy told the Tampa Tribune.

Meanwhile, he’ll be getting used to seeing a lot of fellow rookie defensive tackle Brian Price, the Buccaneers’ second round pick. The Tribune reports the team designated the duo roommates.

The St. Petersburg Times reports McCoy hasn’t played football since OU’s 31-27 victory over Stanford in the Sun Bowl, but is already taking a leadership role.

"That's just me. I told people once I step across those white lines, I turn into something different," McCoy told the Times, responding to barking at some teammates while finishing drills. "I start to open up more -- not that I'm a shy guy or quiet or anything. That's just where I live. So I open up when I get on the field."

Gresham Impresses

Despite missing all of his final college season due to a knee injury, tight end Jermaine Gresham is already turning heads at Cincinnati Bengals minicamp.

“Jermaine comes here really being able to understand and learn the football portion of things ahead of where we expected it to be,” coach Marvin Lewis told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I think the things he was able to take away from here he be able to come back in a couple of weeks and exhibit.”

Gresham, the first tight end off the board in the 2010 NFL Draft, is expected to be the team’s starter at the position.

Still Waiting

The only Sooner draftees still awaiting the start of minicamps are Trent Williams of the Washington Redskins and Dominique Franks of the Atlanta Falcons.

Williams looks to be a lock for Washington’s starting left tackle while Franks will have to play his way into the lineup. The Falcons signed Dunta Robinson in the offseason to fill its cornerback vacancy.
