TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Golden Hurricane won one and dropped one in Saturday’s double header against the University of Central Florida Knights.
The Golden Hurricane outlasted the Knights in game one, which went into extra innings.
TU’s Jackie Lawrence pitched nine innings, giving up only four hits and striking out three batters for the win. UCF’s Ashleigh Cole also pitched nine innings, giving up five hits and striking out four batters.
The two teams ended tied 0-0, sending the game into extra innings, when Caitlin Everett scored off a wild pitch.
The lone run sealed a loss for the Knights, who came back in the second game to claim a victory of their own.
The two teams were both able to produce more at the plate in game two, with the Knights putting up the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. The Golden Hurricane battled back, posting three runs - one in the fifth followed by two additional runs in the sixth - before UCF again answered back. They posted two runs in the bottom of the sixth and earned the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.
The series is tied 1-1 with the tie-breaking game scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m.
