Oklahoma State Softball has 17-Game Winning Streak Snapped

The No. 7 Cowgirls were swept in a doubleheader by Texas Tech.

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Oklahoma State was swept in its doubleheader by Texas Tech. The Red Raiders won the first game 6-0 and the second contest 4-1. OSU falls to 40-9 overall and 9-2 in conference play, while Tech improves to 33-12 overall and 5-8 in the Big 12.

The No. 7 Cowgirls committed two errors and managed just five hits in game one.

Oklahoma State had runners at the corners with two outs in the top of the third. However the Cowgirls could not convert as Tamara Brown struck out looking.

The Red Raiders responded by scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning. Raven Richardson scored the first run of the game to give Tech a 1-0 lead. The Cowgirls committed their first error of the game which allowed two Red Raider runs, as Tech exited the inning with a 3-0 lead.

Oklahoma State committed its second error of the game in the bottom of the fourth which allowed another Red Raider run to put Tech on top 4-0. Mikey Kinney added a couple insurance runs in the fifth with a two-run homer.

Anna Whiddon was tagged with the loss for OSU after giving up six runs (three earned) in six innings. Ashly Jacobs earned the win for Tech, pitching seven scoreless innings.

Logan Hall capped a three-run fourth for the Red Raiders with a two-run homer to right center. Emily Bledsoe scored the first run of the game for Tech on the previous play.

Bledsoe drove in an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it a 4-1 game. She finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.

Julie Ward was responsible for the Cowgirls only run. She hit a solo home run in the second inning to give OSU a 1-0 lead.

Kat Espinosa was pegged with the loss for OSU after allowing four earned runs in six innings. Karli Merlich earned the win for Tech after not allowing a run in 4.1 innings.

The Cowgirls will travel to Austin, Texas to take on the Longhorns at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
