NASHVILLE, Tennessee -- The Oklahoma City RedHawks earned an 8-6 win in the first of a four-game series against the Nashville Sounds on Tuesday.
The RedHawks (9-4) fell behind the Sounds (8-5) in the bottom of the second when Ray Olmedo hit a double, allowing Joe Koshansky to score. Oklahoma City’s Jarrod Saltalamacchia committed a fielding error, allowing Olmedo to advance to third. He scored on the next hit, when Luis Cruz singled to center field.
The RedHawks were able to take the lead by posting five runs in the top of the fifth and a homer by Mitch Moreland in the top of the sixth.
Nashville, trailing 6-2, battled back with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Patrick Arlis singled, hitting home Olmedo, followed by a three-run home run by Eric Farris.
Oklahoma City broke the 6-6 tie with one run in the top of the eighth, followed by another run in the top of the ninth, sealing the win.
The two teams face each other again Wednesday at 11:05 a.m.
