MEMPHIS, Tennessee -- The Oklahoma City RedHawks witnessed their six-game win streak end Monday night, after falling to the Memphis Redbirds 4-3.
Memphis (5-7) put up the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning, but Oklahoma City (8-4) answered back in the top of the sixth when Mitch Moreland hit a sacrifice fly as Hernan Iribarren crossed the plate.
The game’s deciding runs all occurred in the eighth inning. The RedHawks used the top of the inning to put up two runs, including two additional RBI by Moreland. The Redbirds answered back with three runs of their own, claiming the victory over Oklahoma City.
Brandon McCarthy pitched 7.2 innings for the RedHawks, giving up four hits and striking out seven hitters. Pedro Strop (0-1) finished with the loss after pitching 0.1 innings.
Fernando Salas (1-0) earned his first win of the season after pitching 1.0 inning, giving up only two hits.
The Oklahoma City RedHawks will face Nashville Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
