SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Tulsa Drillers beat the San Antonio Missions 5-1 in the first of three games taking place in San Antonio.
The Drillers’ first run came in the first inning off a single by Scott Berrer, earning Daniel Mayora an RBI. Tulsa followed suit in the next inning when Anthony Jackson hit a triple to send Jason Van Kooten across the plate.
The put up one more run in the top of the fifth to take a 3-0 lead off a sacrifice fly by Jeff Kindel, allowing Sawyer Carroll to score for the Drillers.
Wilin Rosario followed in the top of the sixth with his second homer of the season. Van Kooten again scored off a single by Jackson to put Tulsa ahead 5-0.
The San Antonio Missions answered back with their lone run of the evening. Andrew Parrino hit a home run off Keith Weiser (1-0).
The Missions’ Corey Kluber finished with the loss, having pitched 5.2 innings. Kluber (0-1) gave up seven hits, five runs and struck out four batters.
Weiser pitched for 6.0 innings, giving up two hits and striking out three batters.
The Drillers will face the Missions Monday at 7:05 p.m. in the second game of the three-game series.
