RedHawks Fly Higher Than Redbirds

Oklahoma City is on a six-game winning streak after its victory over Memphis.

MEMPHIS, Tennessee -- Oklahoma City defeated Memphis 6-2 Sunday. The RedHawks have won six straight games.

Brandon Boggs scored on a fielder’s choice in the second inning to give Oklahoma City an early 1-0 lead. He would score on another fielder’s choice in the top of the ninth.

Craig Gentry hit a two out, two-run triple in the seventh to put the RedHawks on top 3-0. He finished 1-for-five with 3 RBIs.

Memphis would answer back in the bottom half of the inning. The Redbirds would score back-to-back runs to make it a 3-2 contest.

Oklahoma City added some insurance runs in the ninth. Chad Tracy’s single to left scored two runs thanks to a fielding error. The RedHawks put the Redbirds down in order in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.

Derek Holland (2-0) earned the victory for Oklahoma City after throwing six scoreless innings. Evan MacLane (1-1) was tagged with the loss for Memphis.

The two teams conclude their four-game series at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
