OKLAHOMA CITY -- A four-run fifth inning powered Albuquerque to a 9-5 victory over Oklahoma City Sunday. The RedHawks and Isotopes spilt their four-game series.
Prentice Redman’s two-run homer capped a big inning for the Isotopes (2-2). Nick Green scored the first Albuquerque run of the fourth inning after a John Lindsey groundout. Jay Gibbons drove in Xavier Paul with an RBI double on the very next play to make it a 7-3 Isotopes lead.
Lindsey would add an insurance run in the seventh inning with a solo home run to left field. He finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs.
Oklahoma City (2-2) started a rally in the bottom of the ninth. Craig Gentry scored on Esteban German’s double to center. German would come home later after a Matt Brown RBI single. However, the rally would fall short when Justin Smoak flied out with two on and two outs to end the game.
John Ely recorded his first win for the Isotopes after giving up three earned runs in 5.2 innings. Geoff Geary was tagged with the loss for the RedHawks, allowing five earned runs in three innings.
Oklahoma City starts a four-game set with Round Rock at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
