NORMAN, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Sooners utilized five pitchers Sunday in their failed attempt to overcome the Missouri Tigers, falling 12-11 in the final game of the three-game series.
Oklahoma trailed 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but theSooners were able to produce five runs in the fourthto takea 6-2lead.
The Sooners struggled on the mound in thefifth inning, though, asMissouri (18-13) jumped ahead 10-6 with eight runs.
The Tigers’ Jeff Emens took to the mound in the fifth after Ryan Clubb gave up a walk, hit a batter and committed an error resulting in an OU run. Emens finished the inning, but not before OU tacked on another unearned run to put the score at 10-8 in favor of Missouri.
AfterMissouri extended the lead to11-8, the Sooners battled back in the bottom of the sixth inning. Danny Black hit a triple, scoring on the next hit. Casey Johnson followed with a single andscored whenCody Reine hit a homer to left field, tying the game at 11.
Missouri’s Aaron Senne had the final say for Missouri in the top of the eighth byhittinga solo home run.
Emens earned the win after giving up six hits and three earned runsin 4 2/3innings.Michael Rocha finished with the loss for the Sooners.
Oklahoma faces rival Oklahoma State Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
