MANHATTAN, Kansas – Kansas State exploded on offense in the bottom of the eighth inning and handed Oklahoma State a 14-11 loss in its Big 12 Conference opener on Friday night.

The Wildcats scored seven runs on five hits off of four OSU pitchers in the inning. Matt Peck worked just 1/3 of an inning and suffered his first loss of the season.

OSU snapped a 7-7 tie in the seventh inning on Kevin David's leadoff home run and rallied for three runs in the top of the eighth to extend its lead to four.

Kansas State retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning, though, and held on for the victory.

Nico Rosthenhausler led OSU's offense with a 3-for-5, three-RBI night.

The second game of the series is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
