FULLERTON, California -- The Oklahoma softball team lost two games on Friday at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, California.
In the first game of the day, the Sooners dropped a 4-3 decision to second-ranked Arizona. OU scored three runs in the top of the third to take an early lead, but the Wildcats responded with four unanswered for the win.
Lindsay Vandever provided most of the offense by driving in two runs on one hit. Chana’e Jones was the only other Sooner to record a hit.
Freshman pitcher Keilani Ricketts gave up four runs, one of them earned, on seven hits. She also walked seven and struck out eight.
In the second game of the day, the Sooners lost 5-4 to San Jose State.
After falling behind 5-0 early, OU battled back with three runs in the third and one in the fifth. The Sooners had a chance to tie or take the lead in the sixth after loading the bases, but failed to score.
Jessica Shults hit a three-run home for the Sooners and finished 1-for-3 with three RBI. Katie Norris and Vandever each added two hits.
Alle Allen gave up one earned run on three hits in 1 and 2/3 innings and took the loss.
OU takes on Virginia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
