KENT, Ohio -- Tulsa has come up a little bit short all year, but on Wednesday, it cost the Golden Hurricane its season. Ben Uzoh’s game-winning jumper was off the mark, as the TU fell 75-74 against Kent State in the opening round of the NIT.
Jerome Jordan had 23 points and 12 rebounds for Tulsa, while Justin Hurtt added 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds. The Golden Hurricane ends its season with a record of 23-12.
Tulsa had a nine point advantage in the second half but could not maintain its lead. The Golden Flashes outscored the Hurricane 47-39 in the second half.
Kent State pulled to within two points of Tulsa late in the first half before the Golden Flashes went cold from the floor. Kent did not score a point for a little more than four minutes. Meanwhile, the Golden Hurricane went on a 6-0 spurt to take a 29-21 lead. TU took a lead into halftime 35-28.
Chris Singletary led the Golden Flashes with 16 points.
