NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The University of Oklahoma lost star player Whitney Hand early in the season, but the Sooner has chosen to make the most of her sideline time.
The Sooners best perimeter shooter may have suffered a season-ending injury, but Hand has found new ways to contributing - from the bench.
“She’s right in the middle,” head coach Sherri Coale said. “I think she’s done a remarkable job of continuing to impact her team even though she’s not in uniform.”
Teammates echo the praise, explaining that Hand has been able to talk and relate to them differently than the coaching staff, enabling the players to realize how they can improve.
Hand still has three years left to play with the Sooners, but will likely play a key role in helping the team through the NCAA tournament.
“I know my time will come,” Hand said. “I’m so proud of these girls and what they’ve accomplished.
“I think it’s incredible.”
