WINDSOR, Colorado – The Tulsa Oilers gave up their largest point total of the season on Friday, losing 11-6 at Colorado.
The first period featured eight goals alone, as Colorado jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first 11 minutes. Tulsa would fight back, however, and go into the first break down 5-3 after getting goals by Marty Standish and Jake Riddle.
The two-goal difference for the Eagles eventually grew to a 10-3 lead after Colorado scored five unanswered goals in a 23-minute span. Troy Riddle, Luke Stauffacher and Sean Erickson cut the deficit to 10-6 with three third period goals, but Colorado countered with another score and won by five goals.
Andrew Penner made 23 saves and picked up the win. For the Oilers, Marty Magers made 22 saves and took the loss, while Marco Emond made 18 saves.
The Oilers return to the ice tomorrow for another 7:05 p.m. contest at Colorado.
