Oklahoma Softball Slams Utah

The Sooners only needed five innings to dispatch the Utes.

NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma defeated Utah 12-1 in five innings Friday. The No. 12 Sooners moved to 17-3 on the season, while the Utes fell to 10-7.

Whitney Holm’s solo home run put the Utes up 1-0 in the top of the first.

Pitcher Keilani Ricketts helped her own cause with her first career grand slam to give OU a 5-1 edge in the bottom half of the first. Ricketts went 1-for-2 with four RBIs. She improved to 11-3 on the year and pitched her eighth complete game.

The Sooners added four runs in the second to go up 9-1.

OU is back in action Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. against Northern Iowa and a rematch with Utah at approximately at 4:45 p.m.
