KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Oklahoma State’s Andrea Riley tied the Big 12 career scoring record with a 37-point performance and led the Cowgirls to a 76-69 win over Kansas in the first round of Big 12 Tournament Thursday.

Riley attempted a total of 30 shots – 10 from beyond the arc – and 17 free throws, all significantly more than any other player for either team. She also led a late first-half run that gave OSU a 42-34 lead at halftime.

However, Kansas quickly erased that lead with a 12-3 run at the beginning of the second half. The Cowgirls responded with an extended run of their own, but Kansas would not go away.

The Jayhawks pulled within three points with one minute remaining, but missed their final four shots while Riley made four consecutive free throws to seal the win.

Riley’s game-high 37 points gives her 2,729 in her career, tying her with former Oklahoma star Courtney Paris for the most in Big 12 history. Thursday marked the 11th time this season she scored more than 30 points in a game.

The Cowgirls will now advance to the second round of the conference tournament, where they will face No. 2 seed Iowa State at 5 p.m. Friday.
