GREENVILLE, North Carolina -- Tulsa never trailed and was only tied once in its 85-73 victory over East Carolina Saturday. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Golden Hurricane.
Justin Hurtt had a career-high 34 points and Jerome Jordan added 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
Tulsa (20-9, 9-5) used a 10-3 run midway through the second half to take a 60-47 lead. ECU (9-19, 3-11) was able to cut the deficit to nine but the Golden Hurricane used an 11-7 spurt to take a permanent double-digit lead.
The Pirates tied the game at 2 early on, but that was the last time ECU was within striking distance. The Golden Hurricane shot 52 percent from the floor in the first half and took a 36-29 lead into halftime.
TU connected on 53 percent of its field goals and shot 10-of-19 (53 percent) from behind the arc. The Golden Hurricane also scored 20 points off 13 ECU turnovers.
Brock Young led the Pirates with 30 points.
Tulsa returns to the Reynolds Center for its final home game Wednesday, March 3 against SMU at 7 p.m.
