AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 11 Oklahoma used a 19-2 run in the first half to build a big lead, then a 10-0 run at the start of the second to beat No. 14 Texas 75-60 on Saturday.
A jumper by Ashley Gayle, a free throw by Kathleen Nash and a layup by Brittainey Raven gave Texas a 5-0 lead within the first three minutes. It was the largest lead the Longhorns would hold for the remainder of the game.
A shot from Abi Olajuwon and a shot from three-point range from Nyeshia Stevenson put the Sooners neck-and-neck with Texas.
The Sooners went on an unanswered 16-0 run lasting seven minutes, taking and building the lead to 23-9. Oklahoma didn’t look back and continued to dominate the first half.
By halftime, the Sooners led the Longhorns 33-23. Stevenson scored 16 points and had two steals for OU.
The Longhorns came within 13 points of the Sooners, but couldn’t seem to narrow OU’s lead. Stevenson made six of her eight three-point attempts to finish with 28 points. Danielle Robinson added 16 points and seven assists for the Sooners.
Earnesia Williams earned a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Nash scored 12 points for Texas.
Oklahoma handed Texas its second-straight loss and will next travel to College Station to face Texas A&M.
