STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma Sports’s John Holcomb talked with Oklahoma State head basketball coach Travis Ford after the Cowboys’ 97-76 win over Oklahoma on Saturday.
In addition to picking up a win over their rivals, the Cowboys ended a three-game losing streak.
“The showing we had (against Oklahoma) was what you would hope for after a long, tough week,” Ford said in the interview. “They really responded and it showed. It showed in their play, it showed in their attitude.”
“Attitude” was a point of emphasis heading into Bedlam. Ford said the team agreed to keep a positive outlook for the rest of the season.
“That was kind of the theme of the week. Let’s stay positive and try to make more positive plays than negative plays,” Ford said. “Let's play to the strengths of our team because if you play to your strengths, you’re going to make those positive plays.”
With the victory, the Cowboys kept their tournament hopes alive. OSU is currently 17-7 overall and, according to CBSSports.com, is in the RPI Top 40.
“You look at our RPI and we're right there where we need to be," Ford said. “But for us and two or three other teams, it’s all about winning. You don't have to worry about other people, you just have to take care of yourself."
The Cowboys return to court on Tuesday when they take on Iowa State (13-12, 2-8) in Ames.
