STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Former Oklahoma State basketball coach Sean Sutton was arrested by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Thursday in Stillwater for attempting to possess controlled dangerous substances, officials said.

Sutton remained jailed Friday morning and was also charged with using a communication device to commit a felony, OBNDD said.

Sources say that Sutton admitted to an addiction to pain killers and that the drugs were obtained from doctors by fraudulent means and by shipments from New York and Washington.

“[OBNDD] had received some information from multiple sources back in August that Sean Sutton was visiting several doctors and unlawfully obtaining prescription pain medication and some other drugs,” said OBNDD spokesperson Mark Woodward.

A shipment arrived in Stillwater Thursday and was found to contain Adderall and Clonazepam.

“When Sean showed up about 5 o’clock [Thursday] to pick [the shipment] up our agents confronted him,” Woodward said. “He immediately confessed that he was ordering prescription medication from out of state to support an addiction to these drugs.”

Sutton was released on $10,000 bond Friday afternoon.

Oklahoma Sports will update the story as details become available.
