HOUSTON -- The University of Tulsa women’s basketball team fell 63-56 to Rice Saturday. The Golden Hurricane has dropped seven straight. Larrissa Williams had 22 points and 10 rebounds and was the only TU player in double-figures.
The Owls (10-10, 4-3) jumped out to a 10-2 lead to start the game. Tulsa (6-12, 0-7) closed the gap to one point but went into halftime down 29-25.
The Golden Hurricane opened the second half on an 11-2 run but was not able to maintain its lead. Rice had a 50-35 advantage in rebounds, and went to the line 36 times to the Golden Hurricane’s eight.
The Owls were led by Jackie Stanley with 19 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
