NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops and his wife have notified the city of Norman they're protesting development plans near a home they're building.
Bob and Carol Stoops are building a home on 20 acres in northwest Norman. Building permits place the value of the home at $3.3 million.
The planned development on 350 acres of land adjacent to the Stoops' land includes single family homes, an assisted-living center, townhouses and an elementary school.
A letter from attorney William Henley says the Stoopses protest the development but gives no specific reason. Henley did not return phone calls for comment.
The Norman City Council is to meet in two weeks to consider final approval of a request to rezone the land to allow the development.
